Beach girls, city girls, leggy models, gym junkies, surf chicks, tomboys and princesses, you see all types and sizes in bikini competitions and Miss Mona Vale 2006 was no disappointment! 

Summer returned to Mona Vale this winter when thirty gorgeous girls braved the cold and strutted their stuff to land a position in the final.  There can be only one winner but appreciation was shown for all the competitors every time they hit the catwalk.

Brooke Sheehan, mc for the event and one of Babelife's hottest models got the crowd pumped as the beer garden filled at each heat in one of the northern beaches most popular watering holes.  Some there to show support for their favourite local girls and others or should I say most just there appreciate and admire the female form.  And a lot of appreciation was shown each Saturday as the bevy of beauties hit the stage. 

There's a lot of anticipation before the start of any bikini competition, for the contestants and the audience alike.  Being amongst the crowd for the countdown of each heat to begin I could feel a definite buzz of excitement in the air and see it in the eager faces of all of the young locals with a schooner in their hand.  Being a female judge, I was one of the few who were allowed a glimpse at all the action backstage.  Having heard rumours that the rivalry can be fierce at these competitions, I was quite taken back that the only wild behaviour I saw from these stunning babes was when the very nervous waiter entered with pizza and champagne.  These lithe creatures don't look like they eat too much but they know how to attack an extra large pepperoni special and make a trainee delivery boys day

A frenzy of fake tan application, undressing, bikini line checks, hair spraying, breast comparisons and quick sips of champagne for courage went on prior to each heats commencement and I felt quite privy to be in a room that some men would pay top dollar for to be a fly on the wall. 

Each night was hectic and the crowd went wild as each stunner hit the stage in different revealing outfits.  These bronzed beach babes were a lot of fun especially when it came to the section of the show where we find out what they want to be when they grow up. I didn't realise how many hot girls want to be policewomen and librarians and how many princesses love a cheek revealing skirt. 

The most popular section of the night by far was the swimsuit which was announced late into the evening and had the well oiled crowd at their feet, cameras poised ready to snap as the hottest toned bodies in the area dance to their choice of beat.  Everything from Aerosmith's "Walk this Way" to Black Eye'd Peas "Pump it Hard" boomed out of the speakers while punters cheered and hovered around in hope of a super sexy photo of their favourite contestant. 

Like I said though, there can be only one winner and this year … the judges voted Danielle Byrnes Miss Mona Vale 2006.  No one was a loser in this comp though as all the competitors went home with some gorgeous Babelife gift bags and fun was had by all.    Watch this space, as Danielle will be a featured in an upcoming sxy Babelife photo shoot.
